Divya, a 23-year-old girl who came from Sivagangai district and worked at the Airtel office in Ambattur, Chennai, was befriended by R. Karthik Raja, who also worked in the same office. He gained her trust by claiming he was in love with her and that they would get married. He took a separate house in Ambattur and kept Divya there.

On 3.1.2026, in a mysterious manner, Karthik Raja not only murdered Divya and hanged her but also stole her 1½ sovereign gold jewelry, sold it in Bengaluru, and spent the money. Later, he returned to Chennai and surrendered at Ambattur Police Station through a lawyer.

It is also alleged that Karthik Raja’s sister, Suguna, was involved and should be arrested. The family of the mysteriously murdered Divya, weeping inconsolably, demands that Karthik Raja be given a strict life sentence so that he cannot get out on bail. They are pleading for justice, saying, “We want justice, we want justice!” at the Chennai Press Club.
